In Key Stages 1 & 2, the National Curriculum is divided into Core and Foundation Subjects. English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Education and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) are the core subjects, but are taught with the other subjects through a thematic approach via our creative curriculum. The foundation subjects are History, Geography, Music, Art, Physical Education, Modern Foreign Languages and Personal, Social and Health Education.
 
Cross curricular links are exploited wherever possible and the subjects are brought to life by class and whole school projects, performances, real life experiences, visits, visitors and events. Children are taught about how to keep safe, how to deal with their emotions and develop healthy relationships.
                   
The school believes visits provide an opportunity to extend children’s learning and understanding of themselves, others and the world around them. We have many visits in the local area making use of our beautiful natural locality (beach, foreshore, the moors) and we also take the children further afield as they get older. Recent visits have included a residential visit to Boggle Hole, East Barnby and Bewerley Park. The curriculum is further enriched by visitors who are invited into school to talk about their work or run workshops.
