Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

EYFS children are introduced to a play based learning curriculum. The Early Years Curriculum is divided into seven areas of learning and development;

Three Prime Areas
Personal Social & Emotional Development, Physical Development, Communication & Language.

Four Specific Areas
Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design.

  • Our phonics lessons are taught daily and follow the Little Wandle scheme.
  • Work is sent to practice at home to reinforce the phonics being taught that week.
  • Children's progress through the phonic phases is carefully tracked with reading books being precisely matched to the phase that the children are currently working on. The Little Wandle scheme books form the core of our reading scheme and children being these home each week.
